Five members of the Indonesian Borobudur Artist Community 15 in Magelang, Central Java, decided to paint on the Aksobya open stage near the Borobudur temple during the partial eclipse in the region on Wednesday, March 9, 2016.
Umar Chusaeni one of the Community members created the "Meditasi Pagi" (Morning Meditation) painting, which depicts Borobudur with a picture of an eclipse in its skies. On the background, Umar painted two elephants, a rooster, and a goat.
Painter Tanto Dekora painted the "Detik-Detik Gerhana di Puncak Borobudur" (Seconds of Eclipse at the Peak of Borobudur), which depicts the world’s largest Buddhist temple with the solar eclipse in it skies.
Other painters that took part in the event include Ismedi, who painted the "Gerhana Bersinar" (Shining Eclipse); Kristiyono, who painted the "Menjelang Gerhana Matahari" (Seconds from the Eclipse); Munir TPR, who painted "Gerhana di Taman Aksobya" (Eclipse on Aksoyba Park).
"We want to make our mark through our paintings at Borobudur temple, at the same time with the solar eclipse," Umar said, who also acts as the Community’s cooperation.
