TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahja Purnama has prepared the concept of Green Open Space for Kalijodo, Penjaringan, North Jakarta which will be similar to Children-Friendly Integrated Public Spaces (RPTRA). “We have made the drawing of the concept. The concept is similar to RPTRA, however, this one is bigger,” said Ahok at Jakarta City Hall, Monday, February 29, 2016.
Following the construction time, Jakarta provincial government will try its best make it quick. “We don’t know for how long it would be completed; but based on experience, it would took five months,” he said.
The estimation of total area of green space to be built on the land could reach 1.4 to 1.5 hectares. “The football pitch could be larger,” Ahok said. “We will definitely arrange the total area. The river will be dredged first.”
Today, Jakarta government has shutdown Kalijodo prostitution area. All buildings which stood on the state-owned land had been demolished.
Kalijodo, in the 2014 Detailed Spatial Layout Plan, stands on the green zone since it is located at the bank of West Flood Canal. Head of Jakarta Parks and Cemeteries Department Ratna Dyah Kurniati said that the 1.4 hectare land will be turned into green open space. “We will build parks and sports facilities,” she said.
Ratna imagined that Kalijodo will become a public space where the residents can get the benefit of. “There will be education, interaction, recreation, ecological and economical [spaces],” she said.
Jakarta government will also build sports facilities. “We plan to build football field, jogging track and other sport facilities,” Ratna said. Kalijodo Park, according to her, will be integrated with Penjaringan City Forest, West Jakarta.
In the plan, the construction of catchment is meant for ecological function. “We will green the area. Trees and grass will be planted,” she said. Regarding the budget, the Green Open Space construction at Kalijodo will probably included in the 2017 Jakarta Regional Budget.
