TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Kediri Vice Mayor Lilik Muhibbah has garnered support to reject lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community in Kediri. Kediri municipal government has confirmed that it will not allocate any budget to fund the community.
Lilik criticizes teenagers who tend to be easily attracted by LGBT behavior which she deemed as deviant. “Kediri municipal government rejects all forms of sexual deviations like LGBT,” said Lilik, Thursday, February 25, 2016.
Lilik has dismissed the rumour that her institution had granted a huge sum of money to LGBT organization through the Social Service. “We will not support them; both politically and in terms of funding,” she said.
Lilik, who is also the Head of Nahdlatul Ulama Muslim Women Branch Committee of Kediri, has called on Kediri residents, particularly housewives, to monitor their children’s behavior on a daily basis. Parents are asked to take notice on any change in children behavior to identify the possibility of sexual deviance learned from the LGBT community.
Muhammadiyah College Students Association (IMM) Kediri, Muhammadiyah Students Association, and a number of students from KNPI has also showed their support for the government not to give LGBT community room to maneuver in Kediri. They are also suspicious about a massive attempt from the community to change the behavior of their peers.
