TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Judicial Commission (KY) deputy chairman Farid Wajdi said in a press release on Saturday, February 13, 2016 that his institution deplored the arrest of a Supreme Court official by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
Farid added that public’s trust in law enforcers had been once again tainted.
“Amid the effort to reform the justice system, the institution’s reputation has been tainted, and people’s trust has been betrayed by a small number of individuals,” Farid added.
Farid called on other officials to learn a lesson from the situation in order to improve their professionalism and integrity when serving their duties.
Farid believes that the Supreme Court would take actions as mandated by the Law and conduct a reform in the institution.
Earlier on Friday, February 12, 2016, the KPK caught a Supreme Court official and five others red-handed enacting a bribery in Jakarta. KPK chief Agus Rahardjo has not revealed yet the position of the suspect at the Supreme Court.
