TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Manpower Ministry has released the data of layoff (PHK) per January 2016. Since the turn of the year, layoffs had occurred in 5 regions, namely Jakarta, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, South Kalimantan and Bandung District.

“No layoff in other regions,” said Head of Sub Directorate for Prevention of Industrial Relations Dispute of Manpower Ministry, Heru Widianto in Jakarta, Thursday, February 11, 2016.

Based on the Manpower Ministry data, per January 2016, there have been 208 cases of layoff with 1,377 workers losing their jobs. The region with the highest number of layoffs is Jakarta, reaching 1,047 workers.

According to him, the data has gone through an established procedure. Meaning that the data has obtained the court’s rule or the decree of industrial relations dispute agency and has had permanent legal force. “If mediation failed, it could be settled in court,” he added.

Workers who are being laid off would get their rights and their needs would be met according to the applicable laws and regulations. Manpower Minister would punish any company who conduct any deviation in the process, Heru added. “If not being facilitated as it should, we would punish them,” he said.
