TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung said that the airworthiness of the Indonesian Air Force's training planes must be re-evaluated following the recent crash of the air force's Super Tucano plane in Malang, East Java.
"Several things that must be done include training improvement, or evaluation of planes used for training purposes," Pramono said on Wednesday, February 10, 2016.
Earlier today, a Super Tucano airplane belonging to the air force crashes into a house in Blimbing District, Malang, East Java during a flight training.
Official statement from the Indonesian Air Force said that the crash took the lives of three people, two of them were a pilot who flew the airplane, Maj. Ifi; and an engineer, Sgt. Maj. Saiful. The other victim has been identified as Pujianto, owner of the house which the plane crashes into on Jalan L. A. Sucipto.
Pramono suspected that the crash was not caused by human error because both the pilot and the engineer who were aboard the airplane has passed previous training and exercises, and considered to be capable of flying the plane.
"From my personal opinion, I think the accident was caused by technical error, something is wrong with the airplane," Pramono said.
