TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - White Garuda team have beaten Red Garuda 2-1 in a charity match for solidarity at Solo Manahan Stadium, Central Java, Thursday evening.
White Garuda faced the Reds in a charity match attended by thousands of spectators. The game was eventful and quite entertaining for Solo football lovers.
White Garuda team, coached by Imam Jasumei, was under constant pressure from Red Garuda through Rudi Widodo, Sunarto and Siswanto.
Red Garuda got their first chance in the fifth minute via Sunarto’s shot, but Andritany was able to block the shot only for Red Garuda to get a corner kick.
Red Garuda, coached under Daniel Rukito, got a chance to score at 34th minute through Ramdani Lestaluhu who was one-on-one with keeper Andritany. But the ball was saved by Garuda Putih’s keeper to keep the score at 0-0.
White Garuda, who were relying on quick counter-attacks, got their chance to score in the 39th minute through I Gede Sukadana’s shot, but the ball was slightly gone wide of Red Garuda’s left goalpost guarded by Choirul Huda. Garuda Merah’s goal area was momentarily safe and the score was still goalless until the first half ended.
In the second half, Garuda Putih were consistent in using quick counter-attacks which often troubled the oppositions, whereas Red Garuda were taking initiative to win the match. The strategy from both teams resulted in an interesting match.
White Garuda scored at the 72nd minute through Arif Suyono who substituted Rahmad Afandi in the second half. Arif Suyono’s goal started from a throughball from Slamet Nur Cahyo. He expertly converted the pass into a goal to change the score to 1-0 to the White Garuda.
White Garuda were able to double their lead in the 87th trough a hard shot from David Septian, who was able to escaped his markers and only had keeper Choirul to beat. David coolly fooled the Red Garuda’s goalkeeper to make it 2-0.
Having a 2-goal deficit, Red Garuda tried to rotate their players and kept pressuring their opponents. Eka Ramdhani and co. were finally able to reduce the deficit on injury time via a penalty kick executed by Dendi Santoso to make the final score 2-1 to the White Garuda.
