TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - House of Representatives Speaker Ade Komarudin pitched an idea of building the largest library in South East Asia at the Senayan Parliament Complex. According to Ade, the project was aimed at helping the country to improve the education quality.
“So, all Indonesian people can come to the House of Representatives to gain knowledge from various disciplines,” Ade said on the sidelines of Parliament Complex inspection on Sunday, January 31, 2016.
Ade said that people had been enthusiastic to visit the House building.
“So if students visit [the House], those books would be good for education in Indonesia,” Ade explained.
Ade revealed that he was inspired by the Library of Congress in the United States, which is one of the largest and most complete libraries in the world. Ade hopes that the House’s library would be as large as that in the US.
Earlier, Ade conducted an inspection at the 38-hectare Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta. Ade said that there were rooms for improvement in maintaining facilities at the House of Representatives. Ade promised that he would add more staff to keep the House building in a decent state.
“I want everything clean, safe and comfortable. People here will work better if the condition is comfortable,” Ade said.
