TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Martina Berto Tbk. (IDX: MBTO) has acquired beauty and hair care products brand Rudy Hadisuwarno Cosmetics for Rp58 billion. With the acquisition, Martina Berto now holds 10 brands of beauty products.
Martina Berto president director Bryan David Emil said the transaction was made on January 25, 2016. The corporate act was based on the decision of an extraordinary shareholders general meeting on June 16, 2015.
The deal includes the acquisition of the Rudy Hadisuwarno cosmetics brand trademark, logo, and signature.
"The trademark was bought for Rp58 billion. The funding was sourced from the public offering proceeds of Rp21 billion and a bank loan of Rp37 billion," Bryan said in a disclosure, Thursday, January 28.
In addition to Rudy Hadisuwarno, Martina Berto holds the rights to nine other brands: Dewi Sri Spa, Sari Ayu, Caring, PAC Martha Tilaar, Puspita Martha, Belia, Cempaka, Biokos, and Mirabella Cosmetic.
In this year, Martina Berto plans to expand its cosmetics manufacturing business through its subsidiary PT Cedefindo, which it acquired in 1993.
"In 2016 we will expand our manufacturing business contract in PT Cedefindo. There are many local and foreign players who want to establish their own personal beauty care products in Indonesia. We have to capture that opportunity," he said.
For 2016, Martina Berto is targeting a 10-percent growth target, above last year's estimated increase in the sales of herbal medicine and cosmetics of 3.4 percent (unaudited).
