TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Industry Ministry guarantees the rights of musicians and music industry players through pro-music industry policy. Industry Minister Saleh Husin said he is still synchronizing technical issues with the police, Creative Economy Agency and musician association.
“We’re ready to support the development of music industry. There are several technical aspects that need to be synchronized with other agencies,” said Saleh Husin in a meeting with Creative Economic Agency chief Triawan Munaf and the Association of Indonesian Singers, Songwriters and Music Arrangers (PAPPRI) on Tuesday, January 26, 2016.
Anang Hermansyah, chairman of government relations of PAPPRI, hopes that the government’s policy can follow the current trends of industry and technology. “We want regulations that support artistic work is being displayed through compact disc,” he said.
Anang said the government must protect the intellectual property rights of musicians from piracy. “There must be firm actions from the government and the police. There are five factories that are committed to sell original CD. This has to be done so that industry can grow.”
In Indonesia, rights on protection of intellectual property is constituted in Law No. 28/2014 about copyright, Law No. 14/2001 about patent and Law No. 15/2001 on Brand. There is also Presidential Decree No. 29/2004 on High Technology Production Means for Compact Disc.
