TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Explosions and shoot out occurred in the area of Sarinah, Central Jakarta, have made two application-based motorcycle taxi (ojek) companies; GrabTaxi and Go-Jek Indonesia, compete in providing free rides for their customers.

“If you need to evacuate to a safer place, you can use GO-RIDE for free in the area of JABODETABEK (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bogor),” tweeted @GojekIndonesia through its Twitter account on Thursday, January 14, 2016.

Meanwhile, @GrabTaxiID also tweeted: “To aid the evacuation process and transportation to a safe location, we are providing FREE rides to all areas in Jabodetabek, without having to use the promo code.”

GrabTaxi is limiting its free ride service up to Rp50,000 while Go-Jek is limiting up to 25km.

A bomb blast occurred at Jalan MH Thamrin, in front of Sarinah, Central Jakarta. The first explosion occurred at Starbucks Cafe, next to Starbucks building. The second blast occurred at a police post in front of Sarinah mall, and the third blast came from a suicide bomber near a police post.
