TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President M. Jusuf Kalla had said that any Presidential Security Force/PSF (Paspampres) personnel found carrying drugs or committing crimes deserves to be punished.
"Any Indonesian citizens, whether civilians or soldiers, or Paspampres personnel, must be punished and deservingly so, if they commit crimes," he said on Tuesday.
On Sunday (Jan. 10), a Paspampres member was arrested at the Kualanamu Airport for allegedly carrying narcotics while on his way to Jakarta.
The vice president said the Paspampres member committing the misdeed does not reflect the behavior of all members of Presidential or Vice Presidential Security Detail.
Commenting on the commemoration of Paspampres 70th anniversary, Kalla expressed the hope that the unit can improve discipline in ensuring the security of the president, the vice president and other government officials.
"That one or two have done so does not mean that all Paspampres personnel have done the same thing," he said.
Earlier, Paspampres Commander Major General Andika Perkasa proposed that his subordinate who was found carrying drugs be dismissed dishonorably.
Andika said the Paspampres member identified by initials FAP was arrested at the airport on Monday morning for allegedly carrying 0.35 grams of crystal meth and half a tablet of ecstasy pill.
