TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Air Carriers Association (INACA) reported that the growth of flight domestic passengers stood at around 10-15 percent in 2015 and the figure was in line with data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).
"We are optimistic that the growth this year won’t be too different from the growth of last year and it can be even higher,” said Chairman of INACA Scheduled Flights Bayu Sutanto in Jakarta on Friday.
Meanwhile, INACA Chairman Arif Wibowo, said that the indications of the growth this year could be seen by among others the exemption of customs of dozens of airplanes components. He also said that the beginning of the ASEAN Open Sky per 1 January 2016 is believed to bring more opportunities for national airlines.
"We believe we can get reap benefits (from the ASEAN Open Sky),” Arid said, adding that that 2016 is a momentum for all airlines to expand to all ASEAN countries.
For the record, Indonesia opens five airports for the ASEAN Open Sky program, namely Kualanamu, Soekarno-Hatta, Juanda, Ngurah Rai, and Sultan Hasanuddin.
In the meantime, Director General of Air Transportation of the Transportation Ministry Suprasetyo said that his ministry could not report yet the growth of domestic passengers in 2015 because the Ministry received the data only until November 2015.
