TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama is currently focusing on extending the operation of Transjakarta buses to the capital's border so that more people will use Transjakarta bus when travelling to Jakarta.
However, the Jakarta government is now prioritizing Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi, while extension to other regions, such as Bogor and Cianjur, are still being assessed.
"We are prioritizing Tangerang, Bekasi dan Depok first. Bogor and Cianjur are for later," said Ahok on Friday, January 8, 2016.
Ahok said if private vehicle users shift to public transportation, Jakarta will have less influx of vehicles and traffic jam will decrease.
"The point is, we want people who use private vehicles to feel that using bus is cheaper, safer and more comfortable," Ahok said.
