TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Seribu Island District Regent Budi Utomo will increase security around islands by installing information board about sea level depth, particularly in places that are commonly used for swimming.
“We’re coordinating with government officers in every island,” Budi told Tempo on Wednesday, Jan 6.
The board will contain information on restricted accesses in beaches for visitors. “There will also be an early warning about the weather on the information board,” he said.
Budi also said that every weekend or holidays, he will increase patrols to keep an eye out on visitors in Seribu Island. “This will be done by law enforcers,” he said.
To prevent any incidents, Budi has urged visitors to raise awareness when traveling as they cannot always rely on the government officers since the officers also have their limitation especially in numbers. “As a preventive step, visitors should stay cautious,” said Budi.
