TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Freeport Indonesia spokesperson Riza Pratama refused to comment on the appointment of Yuni Rusdinar as a member of the presidential staff since August 2015. Yuni has been appointed as Vice Deputy I of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP). Previously, Yuni was working as Freeport Indonesia's Vice President of Government Relations.
"I have no information about Mr. Yuni. Thank you," said Riza to Tempo on Monday, December 21, 2015.
Yuni has been working as the presidential staff since August 2015. Previously, as of January 26, 2015, Yuni was still working as a Freeport official. At the same time, Commission III of the House of Representatives was investigating Freeport's plan to construct a smelter in Indonesia.
In response to Yuni's appointment, former Presidential Staff during Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's government Andi Arief, suspected that the action was related to the recent case involving several high ranking officials demanding Freeport shares.
"Freeport official appointed by Luhut [Binsar Pandjaitan] and [President Joko Widodo] at the Presidential Staff Offcice is Yuni Rusdinar, previously Freeport's Government Relation [officer]. This is a scandal," Andi tweeted via his Twitter account @AndiArief_AA on Saturday, December 19, 2015.
