TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) appreciated the move made by Transportation Ministry that revoked the regulation that restrict online-based transportation services of ojek (motorcycle taxi) like Go-Jek, Grab Bike, and others.
According to KPPU, the move could boost a more healthy competition.
"KPPU hopes that in the future, discriminative regulations could be avoided,” said KPPU Head of Internal Cooperation and Public Affairs Division Dendy R Sutrisno on Saturday (19/12).
Dendy said that the ban to restrict online-based transpiration services was discriminative because the ban only favors conventional transportation providers; in fact, he said, in this digital era, technology could not be restricted.
"Conventional transportation services should in fact be boosted to innovate and to compete healthily,” he added.
