TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that Jakarta’s export value in October 2015 amounted to US$960.43 million, decreasing by 14.82 percent when compared to September’s US$1,127 million.
City BPS head Nyoto Widodo said that the declining trend over the last few months was linked to national export performance.
“The decline in export was caused by [decreasing] demands from export destination countries. This reflects the global economic slowdown,” Nyoto said at his office in Jakarta on Tuesday, December 1, 2015.
Nyoto explained that Jakarta’s contribution to the national export in October accounted for 24.39 percent, decreasing by 3.11 point compared to previous month’s figure that stood at 27.50 percent.
Jakarta’s major export destinations in October were ASEAN countries that accounted for 41.87 percent of its total market share.
“Jakarta’s market share in ASEAN increased by 3.01 percent compared to last year, which stood at 38.77 percent,” he added.
