TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-State-owned electricity company PT PLN said electricity tariff of 3,500-5,500 VA or in the R-2 will decrease. PLN spokesman Bambang Dwiyanto said the decrease is influenced by low inflation rate and rupiah appreciation in the past month. “Tariff for small household is still the same,” he said on Monday.
The electricity rate will be reduced from Rp1,533 per kWh to Rp1,509 kWh. Slight tariff reduction also occurs in medium business, large industry, government office, street lighting and special service categories.
Meanwhile, PLN will apply adjustment tariff scheme on customers of 1,300 VA and 2,200 VA electricity in the beginning of December. The scheme implementation had been delayed since last year because rate increase in those categories had been applied gradually.
“The delay was also to ease economic burdens of customers in both categories,” said Bambang.
Tariff adjustment applies to 12 electricity rate categories. The company is also preoaring migration of customers of 450 VA and 900 Va to 1,300 VA category so that electricity subsidy is right on target.
