TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-National Energy Council (DEN) member Rinaldy Dalimi said the government needs to create a market in order to achieve target of 23 percent of new renewable energy in Indonesian energy mix in 2025.
According to Rinaldy, DEN has proposed that all government buildings, street lights and official houses use solar cell. “This is to promote needs for solar and industries to build new and renewable energy,” said Rinaldy on Sunday, November 29.
He continued that if many investors had started building new renewable energy project, there would be competition, which will reduce prices. “This is what the government needs to trigger,” he said.
Rinaldy further said President Joko Widodo already instructed to install solar cell in State Palace last February and it was to be launched in August. However, it was cancelled because no one was interested to build solar power plant in the palace. “No one wanted to offer.”
Rinaldy added that there needs to be provisions in making decisions as many project executors are afraid of being summoned by the Corruption Eradication Commission if they make wrong decisions in procurement projects.
