TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama expressed his complaint over the difficulty of gaining permit to build overpass and underpass at city’s train crossings from PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI). According to Ahok, overpass and underpass roads would be necessary to reduce the number of accidents occurred at train crossings.
“There are a lot of crossings. We have to work with KAI. But for that in Pertama Hijau, it was really hard to get the permit. Bina Marga Agency head Yusmada sometimes complains about this too,” Ahok told Tempo at the City Hall on Saturday, November 28, 2015.
Ahok added the procedures to gain roadwork permit at train crossings were also lengthy.
“Crossings at Jalan Panjang had been damaged. So, we fixed it with speed create in seven hours. But then what if it was opened before seven hours? That’s why I need to get the permit. Yusmada had to check with KAI and went through lengthy procedures,” Ahok explained.
Ahok admitted that he had lobbied KAI several times to accelerate the overpass and underpass development without any results.
