TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Public Works and Public Housing Ministry reported that 622,000 houses in President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s 1 million houses program had been completed.

Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said that the number of house units completed had reached 603,516, increasing from 512,928 in October.

“The number of house units for low-income families (MBR) increased because several developers of non-MBR houses, such as Real Estate Indonesia (REI) had difficulties in selling middle upper class houses. So, they participated in building MBR houses,” Basuki said when opening an infrastructure and housing exhibition in Jakarta on Saturday, November 28, 2015.

Syarif Burhanuddin, the ministry’s director general of housing, explained that the completed houses included rented houses, ownership houses, and self-initiated houses.

“The number of houses subsidized by the housing loan liquid facility (FLPP) has increased from 72,000 to 100,000 in November 2015,” Syarif said.

The assistance for housings through housing loans and FLPP has supported developments of 87,683 houses, accounting for 8.7 percent of the total houses in the 1 Million Houses Program.
