TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (Lapan) will host Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency (APRSAF) in Kuta, Bali, on December 1-4, 2015. This forum will discuss aerospace technology as a solution to solve socio-economic problems. “Stakeholders will exchange information and mull cooperation in space activities,” said Lapan spokesperson Jasyanto on Thursday, November 26.
Jasyanto said in this year’s forum, world’s space agencies will seek solutions for socio-economic lives through innovative space technology and synergy between space agencies. “Through cooperation between its members, this forum aims to create solution to improve quality of life and activities in that area,” he said.
The forum held at Hotel Discovery Kartika Plaza Kuta will be held through four group discussion sessions about space app, space technology, space environment and space education. “The plenary session in December 3 will be attended by Technological Research and High Education Minister, Bali Governor and Lapan Chief,” he said.
In that forum, space education activities include water rocket competition where students from 12 to 16 years old from several countries in Asia Pacific region will compete.
The competition is scheduled on November 29 at Niti Mandala Renon Field, Denpasar.
Besides water rocket competition, there is also poster competition for elementary school students. Posters submitted for the competition will be those who won at the national level competition in each country and the winner in Bali will be based on the voting from APRSAF participant.
“There will also be an exhibition during the conference. This exhibition will feature several recent developments in space science and technology,” he said.
