TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (Indef) executive director expressed her appreciation for the elected of Rosan Perkasa Roeslani as the chairman of Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) 2015-2020 periods. “Rosan is not a new face in Kadin. He was once deputy chairman of banking,” Enny told Tempo on Wednesday, November 25.
According to Enny, Kadin’s performance has not been optimal. However, she could not say how Rosan will lead Kadin for the next five years.
Enny hoped Kadin can become the government’s strategic partner in boosting the national economy. “Time will decide, but Kadin must be able to unite all businessmen to work together with the government.”
Economic challenges in the future, said Enny, have become more global. Rosan is expected to support businessmen to compete by creating more innovative products.
Enny said she once worked with Rosan on a research related to economy in ASEAN. She also said the economic challenges that Indonesia face is in the high economic costs, such as raw material and labor costs.
Enny added that Indonesia must be able to tackle those challenges in the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). In AEC, businessmen must be able to make competitive products and pay attention to labor wages. I have high hope for the new Kadin Chairman,” she said.
