Setya Novanto: I will not file a lawsuit

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - House of Representatives Speaker Setya Novanto said that he will not file a lawsuit against Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sudirman Said for reporting Setya to the House's Ethics Council (MKD). "Maybe he has some problems. After this issue is settled, I will forgive him," said Setya.

Setya added that he will leave the case to the Ethics Council. "I trust everything to MKD," Setya said. "I leave it also to my lawyers."

The Ethics Council is set to issue a decision in relation to Setya’s suspected name profiteering case in a negotiation with Freeport.

Previously, the Ethics Council had questioned Sudirman's legal stance on the case. The Council claimed that Sudirman has no right to report Setya because he is a minister. However, the Council later changed its views after several experts case to explain the article on Sudirman's legal stance.
