TEMPO.CO, Surabaya - East Java Regional Police said it would continue to search for the sender’s identity and motive from the bomb threat sent through a fax towards two hotels in Surabaya Monday night.
Authorities will not stop the investigation despite the immediate search conducted in the two hotels that turned out to be a bluff.
Head of Public Relations of East Java Regional Police Department Senir Commissioner Argo Yuwono said the investigation is still being conducted until today, November 24. The fax mentioned ISIS group.
“We have studied the previous cases, whether the threat is related with ISIS group,” Argo said Tuesday.
Argo urged the people not to be panic and continue with their daily routine. The investigation is also conducted in other regions including Malang, Lamongan, and Tulungagung. Authorities have previously arrested a suspected terrorist linked to ISIS group.
On Monday afternoon, Shangri-La and JW Marriot Hotel in Surabaya reported a threat received via fax at 3:30 pm on behalf of ISIS group.
The complaint was followed up by the police, who directly combed the premises of the two five-star hotels.
