TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Fadli Zon challenged Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sudirman Said to a debate. The challenge was made in relation to the recent report submitted by the Minister to the House's Ethics Council on the suspected profiteering of President Joko Widodo's name by House Speaker Setya Novanto.
"The one who has violated the law is Sudirman Said," Fadli said at the parliamentary complex in Senayan on Tueaday, November 24, 2015.
Fadli argued that Sudirman had violated the law by extending the contract of PT Freeport Indonesia. In addition, Fadli also questioned the transcript claimed to reveal a conversation between Setya Novanto, Freeport Indonesia CEO Maroef Sjamsoeddin, and businessman Riza Chalid.
Fadli said that in the transcript did not mention about a discussion on shares distribution involving President Jokowi's name. To prove his point, Fadli invited Minister Sudirman for a public debate. "Tonight, if possible," Fadli said.
