Jokowi to Discuss Security After Paris Attack at ASEAN Summit

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo is scheduled to attend the 27th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Presidential chief of staff Teten Masduki said that several agendas to be discussed in the forum include world security after Paris attack.
“Indonesia is the world’s largest Muslim-majority nation and an example of a country with the best democracy,” Teten said at the State Palace on Friday, November 20, 2015.
Teten added Jokowi would focus on discussing terrorism eradication in the region.
“Indonesia is expected to share its experiences with ASEAN countries on how to keep peace and maintain good democracy,” Teten explained.
Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Abdurrahman Mohammad Fachir said that Jokowi would discuss several important agendas, such as the preparation for the arrival of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and cooperation in the maritime sector.
“The President has instructed us to maintain ASEAN centrality in managing the region,” Fachir said.
