TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama plans to meet with Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi to discuss the recently disputed waste management at Bantargebang landfill.
“Maybe on Wednesday or Thursday. I’ve already contacted the mayor,” said Ahok on Monday, November 9.
Ahok explained that the Jakarta provincial government will formulate long-term solutions to build their own waste treatment facility.
“I have asked Pasar Jaya. They must build their own waste management facility at the market. We’re currently looking for a location for it,” he said.
Ahok also assigned PT Jakarta Propertindo and the Jakarta Sanitation Agency to build waste management facilities in Jakarta.
According to Ahok, if waste can be fully processed in Jakarta, more money will be saved, especially from transportation costs.
Ahok also instructed Jakarta Sanitation Agency chief Isnawa Adji to mull cooperation offer from the Bogor Regency Government. “Cooperation with Bogor is just an addition, not a long-term addition,” he said.
These several moves are made as Ahok intends to terminate the contract with PT Godang Tua Jaya which manages Bantargebang.
The Jakarta government also no longer allocates funds for tipping free in 2016 as Ahok plans to build waste managemet facilities in Jakarta.
