APKASI to Strengthen Ties with British Chamber of Commerce

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Nurdin Abdullah, the secretary general of the Association of Indonesian Regency Administration (APKASI), said that his organization would strengthen economic ties with investors from the United Kingdom. Earlier on Saturday, November 7, 2015, APKASI and the British Chamber of Commerce (BritCham) signed a memorandum of understanding at the Senayan Plaza, Jakarta.
According to Nurdin, the MoU was signed to promote collaboration and mutual supports for each member of the organization in the future.
“The MoU is aimed at bridging commercial partnership from the two countries, particularly for business owners, and to raise investment and trade awareness,” he said.
Nurdin explained that Indonesian regencies had huge potentials, particularly those related to commodities, such as cocoa and coffee. Nurdin added that the two commodities were important to support developments in regencies and provide job opportunities for Indonesian people.
BritCham chairman Adrian Short said that the cooperation would boost the trade between the two countries. Mr. Short said that Indonesia had an opportunity to penetrate British market, as long as its products met standards applied in the UK.
“The quality standards for products entering the UK are extremely high,” he said.
Therefore, Mr. Short revealed that the quality standards would be important topics to be discussed by Britcham and APKASI in a bid to realize smooth trading cooperation and investments.
