TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - Argentine painting artist, Maximo Elizondo is displaying his vision of Indonesia in a solo exhibition entitled ‘Gorengan, Cinta, Besok’ (Fries, Love, Tomorrow) at Srisasanti Gallery, Yogyakarta. As many as 65 paintings by Maximo are being exhibited until November 17.
One of the paintings portrays the late Indonesian renowned painting artist Affandi with crowd of mini images behind him. Maximo, who is having his residency in Srisasanti Syndicate, also created a painting of Balinese barong dance, ladies painting batik, and gunungan.
“Maximo has often captivated by Indonesian traditions and cultures,” said Fery Oktanio, writer of the exhibition’s catalog.
In 2011, Maximo had held an exhibition at Tuksongo Visual Art House in Borobudur, Central Java. He had also held exhibitions in a number of countries including Australia.
Denmark, Estonia, France, Netherlands, Japan, Mexico, and United States.
