TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Garuda Indonesia has set a target to own 50-60 percent of the market share for the Guangzhou (China)-Denpasar (Bali, Indonesia) direct route that will be operated this November.

“We are confident [to reach the target] because Garuda has gained international reputation as five-star airline and World’s Best Cabin Crew. Therefore, passengers from China to Bali will have unique experience during the trip,” Garuda Indonesia’s general manager in Guangzhou Dharmawan Yuliardy said on Tuesday, November 03, 2015.

Dharmawan explained that China’s market potential was relatively huge and promising. Data from Direct Data Service (DDS) System shows that the number of air transportation passengers from China to Denpasar in the period of January-December 2014 is 227,296 people.

“14,442 passengers or 6.3 percent of the figure took flights from Guangzhou to Denpasar,” Dharmawan added.

In the period of January-October 2015, the number of passengers taking flights from China to Bali is 209,006 passengers. The number of passengers from Guangzhou to Bali reached 23,187 or 11.09 percent of the total figure.

“With direct flights from Guangzhou-Denpasar, it is expected that Garuda may own 50-60 percent of the leisure market,” he said.

Garuda’s direct flights serving the Guangzhou-Denpasar route will be commenced on November 22, 2015 with flight number GA 869 at 12.45 a.m., and is scheduled to arrive at the Guangzhou International Airport on 5 a.m.local time.
