TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Bank Internasional Indonesia (BII) officially changes its identity to PT Bank Maybank Indonesia today, November 2.  The company is also rebranding by changing its overall logo and tagline, inline with the company’s main office logo Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank).

“This change with make Maybank bigger, better and stronger,” Maybank Indonesia CEO Taswin Zakaria said in Maybank Indonesia central office in Senayan Jakarta on Monday, November 2.

Taswin said the rebranding process in all Maybank Indonesia network offices were estimated to be completed in Q1 2016.  The identity change has been approved by its regulator, Financial Service Authority.

Maybank Indonesia has been operating in Jakarta for seven years since September 30 2008.  Previously, it was named BII Bank. When first established, Maybank had 220 branch networks, while it now has 420 branch offices throughout Indonesia.  “This is proof of our commitment,” said Taswin.

The alignment identity also aim so that the people of Indonesia could not only access the domestic market, but also ASEAN and International market.  In the future, it hopes to facilitate the flow of investment into Indonesia with its vast network.

The reason for the identity change, said Taswin, is in order to gain vigorous support from Maybank Group, particularly those related to capital assets.

Related to funding, the current funding from Maybank Group is already running well and is expected to improve in the future.  This is because Indonesia is included in Maybank Group’s home countries bank category, thus becoming its main focus.  “Not only backed in infrastructure projects, but its entire business lines from upstream to downstream,” said Taswin.

Maybank Group currently own a total asset of $176 billion and serves 22 million customers in 19 countries.
