Antam says Production Activity Not Affected by Bogor Landslide

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Antam Company Secretary Tri Hartono ensured that the operational activity of the gold mining company will not be disturbed by the illegal mine’s landslide in the area of Bogor.
“The incident will not interrupt with the operational of the company,” Tri said in a press conference in Bogor on Wednesday, Oct 28.
Tri said the company is concerned over the landslide incident that allegedly have buried 12 unlicensed miners in the Pongkor gold mine vicinity.
“Authorities are currently dealing with the incident. According to the information from law enforcers, 12 unlicensed miners were allegedly buried in the illegal pit they created,” said Tri.
The landslide occurred within the vicinity of PT Antam mining in Bantar Karet Village. Its location is on top of a hill with a 100-120 degrees slope.
A witness, employee of PT Antam, said 12 people were inside the mine since last Monday. Their conditions remain unknown as the pit could not be accessed.
The effort to evacuate those 12 miners continue to be conducted. Bogor Resort Police Chief Adj. Commissioner Suyudi Ario Seto directly led the operation by deploying 200 joint personnels from law enforcers, armed forces, Regional Disaster Management Agency, Red Cross and society.
