Ahok Invites Hundreds of Singaporean Businessmen to Invest

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Sigit S. Widyanto, coordinator of economy at the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore, said that Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama's had met with 300 Singaporean businessmen. "They met in a forum," said Sigit on Wednesday, October 21, 2015.
Sigit added that during the forum, Ahok invited hundreds of Singaporean businesses to invest in Jakarta. These businesses were encouraged to take part in the Jakarta government infrastructure projects, such as the light rail transit, toll roads, and mass rapid transit. "The point is, [Ahok] was promoting [Jakarta],” said Sigit.
Sigit said that Ahok had promised to provide easy licensing for Singaporean businesses interested to make investments in Jakarta.
Sigit said that several businesses have expressed their interets after listening to Ahok's presentation in the forum.
Ahok has been in Singapore for two days. The Jakarta Governor visited Singapore with several officials, such as the Jakarta Planning and Development Agency chief Tuty Kusumawati and Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency chief Hery Budi Hartono.
In addition to meeting with businesses, Ahok also visited the Marina Barrage to learn about processing wastewater to clean water.
