TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources hosts a two-day meeting on renewable energy starting on Friday, titled the ‘Renewable Energy Forum’
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, with support from the United Nations Office for REDD+ Coordination in Indonesia (UNORCID) and the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) will host a two-day meeting on renewable energy starting on Friday, October 16.
The meeting which is held in Nusa Dua, Bali, is titled the ‘Renewable Energy Forum’ aims to become a platform to connect Indonesia’s national energy interests with the integrated global development agenda, UNORCID said in a statement.
Minister Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said will open the second day forum along with Bali Governor I Made Mangku Pastika.
Impact of the energy sector contributes to a range of environmental issues that exists today. Indonesia aims to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases by 26 percent against business-as-usual levels. Furthermore, by 2025 Indonesia aims to achieve 23 percent of the national energy mix with new and renewable energy through the scaling-up of new and renewable energy production.
Under the over-arching topic of accelerating the implementation of renewable energy in Indonesia, this forum will include sessions on energy access as a fundamental right and mapping the opportunities for sustainable biomass in Indonesia.
There is also a push for further partnerships through sharing emerging best practices and solving together existing challenges.
