TEMPO.CO, Palembang-National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) chief Willem Rampangilei said the government had spent Rp500 billion to mitigate haze disaster in South Sumatra and several other provinces in Sumatra and Kalimantan.
“The fund spent to mitigate haze disaster in the last two months was Rp500 billion. From the six provinces engulfed in the haze disaster, South Sumatra is the province that absorbs the largest amount of funds,” said Willem on Monday, October 12, 2015.
Willem said South Sumatra has the highest number of hotspots, causing the tools and aid to tackle haze disaster to be centered in South Sumatra.
According to Willem, the BNPB will keep giving aid so that people will no longer suffer the haze. The aid given to tackle the haze disaster is in the form of equipment for fire fighting operations by land and air.
“With the support given to South Sumatra and other provinces, the haze disaster will hopefully end soon and lives will be back to normal,” he said.
