TEMPO.CO, Palembang-Price of crude palm oil (CPO) in South Sumatra on Tuesday, October 12, climbed up to Rp6,002 per kilogram, compared to the previous two weeks at Rp5,487 per kg.

South Sumatra Head of Plantation Processing and Marketing Office Benyamin in Palembang said CPO selling price in South Sumatra was on a decline since the beginning of September until the first week of October 2015.

He explained that the increase in the CPO price is also due to the improving foreign markets.

While, he said, the price of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) also increased compared to two weeks ago. FFB price is now determined at Rp1,105 per kilogram, rising significantly compared to the previous two weeks at Rp977 per kg.

M. Yamin, a farmer in Musi Banyuasin said the palm fruit price is good news. However, he said, unfortunately farmers mostly had left their oil palm plantation untreated, because the selling price was too low.
