TEMPO.CO, Nunukan-Twelve out of 71 Indonesian nationals deported by the Malaysian government in Nunukan, North Kalimantan is involved in illegal drugs, Antara news agency reported on Tuesday, October 13.
Muhali, 41, admitted on Monday that he was deported from Malaysia after being caught taking methamphetamine at his home in Lahad Datu, Sabah State.
"I was arrested after the [Malaysian] police surrounded the house when I was using methamphetamine," he said. In Malaysia, Muhali who originates from Sinjai, South Sulawesi worked for Bagaha oil palm plantation worker.
He also said, when he was caught along with three other friends who was also deported with him, that he served more than four months in PTS Tawau detention center.
Muhali said he began to consume methamphetamine since 2000. He obtained the illicit goods from his co-worker that deals to mostly other Indonesian workers.
Muhali who has three children and began working in Malaysia since 1988, claimed taking drugs to strengthen his stamina to pick oil palm fruit.
He said he will go back to work in Malaysia despite not having a passport on the grounds that his wife and children were still in the country.
