TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Resources Rizal Ramli calls the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said misguided for not following regulations on PT Freeport Indonesia contract extension.
"Up to this point the government regulation on contract extension negotiation time has not been revoked, that is two years before the contract expires. The agreement with Freeport ends on 2021. The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources is misguided," says Rizal Ramli at the KPK building, Monday, October 12.
Rizal Ramli said he was surprised by the attitude of Sudirman Said that seems adamant to defend PT Freeport Indonesia. According to Ramli, a lot of Indonesia’s opportunities and resources are lost due to contracts with investors who are considered less beneficial for the people of Indonesia.
“Why are so many opportunities lost? Because many officials are easily lobbied, easily bribed," he said.
Ramli previously been at odds with the President Director of PT Pelindo II, RJ Lino. Ramli also said that the 35 thousand megawatt power project will be in vain. The critisism was responded to Vice President Jusuf Kalla, who said that the power plant construction plan will continue.
