TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Educating farmers in creating biosecurity-implementing farms to be able to prevent various disease-spreading germs’ attacks –including avian flu virus- requires a variety of approaches.
FAO Indonesia through ECTAD (Emergency Centre for Transboundary Animal Diseases) Program, or FAO ECTAD Indonesia for short, takes the initiative to create a comedy movie starred by veterinarians who have been working in the field and being held up in research laboratories. The movie titled “Rahasia Sukses Komplit” (The Secret to Success Reloaded) is shown for public’s viewing for the first time on October 9, 2015 at 2 PM, in conjunction with day 2 of the International Livestock and Dairy Exhibition (ILDEX) 2015. The selection of the movie premiere’s venue and time is expected to reach the target audience: poultry farms’ business people.
The movie is created to bring the educating message to the poultry farmers (particularly the commercial layer chicken farmers) in implementing the two main strategies: bio-security and vaccination. The two strategies are crucial steps to prevent avian flu virus based on the result findings of the biosecurity study in commercial layer chicken farms conducted by Commercial Poultry Health (CPH) Team, FAO ECTAD Indonesia.
“Rahasia Sukses Komplit” is technically supported in its production by SyZyGy Productions; however, the idea, scenario-writing and the majority of the casts are members of FAO ECTAD Indonesia, including the three main casts who are the central characters in the movie (a mother and her twin sons, Dermawan and Sabar).
The almost-60-minutes movie tells a story of twin brothers Dermawan (played by Soni Setyana) and Sabar (played by drh. Rajali Yahya), both are layer chicken farmers. The twins are different in their approaches of their farms’ problems. Sabar, who is very un-disciplined in managing his farm and easily persuaded by vendors becomes the center of this comedy movie. On the other hand, Dermawan is a good farmer who tries his best to persuade his brother to implement the requirements of healthy farm.
This education and dissemination processes packaged in a comedy format is expected to serve as a different –as well as refreshing- alternative as part of the Government of Indonesia’s program to prevent and control avian flu, through the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).
