TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - With the Frankfurt Book Fair just around the corner, a number of museums along the Schaumankai street in Frankfurt offers Indonesia-related programs. Indonesia becomes the guest of honor in the book fair that will be held starting from October 14 to 18.

At the Deutsches Architektur Museum, for example, an exhibition entitled ‘Tropically Revisited’ is being held that displays works of Indonesian young architects in forms of photos, mock-ups, videos. The exhibition is curated by Armand and Setiadi Sopandi.

Moving on from the architecture museum to the next building on the street, Deutsches Filmmuseum hosts an Indonesian film festival that was kicked start on October 6 by the screening of ‘After the Curfew’, a film directed by Umar Ismail. Many more Indonesian film screening and discussions are scheduled at the building until the end of October.

At the Weltkulturen Museum, a musician Wukir Suryadi from Malang, East Java who is known for his skill to make music instruments from various things, is having his residency program. Here, Wukir is making various music instrument out of objects originating from Indonesia that are collected by the museum. The instruments are exhibited on Saturday, October 11.

“I will make some objects from Solor and loom from Batak into musical instruments,” Wukir said to Tempo.

In addition to Wukir, a number of other Indonesian artists such as Endo Suanda and Afrizal Malna will be hosting discussions and poetry reading at the museum.
