Ahok Inaugurates Thousand Island`s Public Space for Children

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama inaugurated 1,800 square meter Child Friendly Integrated Public Space (RPTRA) in Untung Jawa Island, Thousand Island Regency on Saturday, October 10, 2015.
“Now, we have six RPTRAs, and we will build 57 others this year,” Ahok said in his speech.
Ahok added that the public space development was initiated in a corporate responsibility program (CSR) crafted by regional-owned enterprises and other companies. According to Ahok, every region must provide several RPTRAs for its residents. Ahok called residents to utilize the public space as a facility to get to know each other.
Attending the RPTRA inauguration in the Thousan Island were foreign ambassadors to Indonesia, such as Netherland, Singapore, Switzerland and Denmark.
“The Queen of Denmark will visit next year to give Legos for six RPTRAs. She want to teach kids on how to play with them,” Ahok added.
Those who attended the inauguration watched children from Untung Jawa Island performing dances. The Jakarta administration has planned to build similar public spaces in other islands.
