TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Low carrier cost (LCC) airline Citilink Indonesia added flight routes to Denpasar, Bali, via Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Jakarta.

Citilink Indonesia President and CEO Albert Burhan said flights from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport to Denpasar and vice versa will now be done twice in a day.

“Direct flights from Halim Perdanakusuma-Denpasar will be open on October 10.  The flight will complete the previous Citilink flight from Soekarno-Hatta Airport,” Albert said Thursday, Oct 8.

Albert thinks that the move is quite strategic considering that Bali is an extraordinary market with increasing domestic tourist visits during the weekdays, holidays, and even on long weekend.

Based on the Central Statistics Agency data for August period, the number of aircrafts departing from Ngurah Rai Airport reached 3,299 flights, or up by 5.97 percent from the previous month with 3,113 flights.

Citilink flight from and to Bali will be 12 times a day or 24 hour (two-way flights).  Four times from Cengkareng, twice from Halim Perdanakusuma, one from Bandung, four from Surabaya, and one from Balikpapan,” said Albert.

Albert claims Citilink performance continue to record outstanding growth since 2012.  This year, Citilink targets 11.2 million people by operating 36 aircrafts A-320 Airbuses type.

Although the national economy condition has yet stabilized, Albert believes that the company’s target could be achieved.  Especially in the near future, Citilink plans to open new routes in the eastern region of Indonesia, including Manado and Palu.

“We will also increase frequency flights from Makassar and Lombok to connect flights throughout the archipelago.  We expect the number of Citilink passengers to continue adding,” Albert said in a statement.

Citilink raked a whopping $4.9 million profit or Rp 65.7 billion in the first half of this year.  The subsidiary of PT Garuda Indonesia also recorded a net profit of $1.46 million (Rp 19.5 billion).

Meanwhile, in terms of assets, Citilink recorded a 51.1 percent growth to Rp 2.76 trillion.
