TEMPO.CO, Kampar, Riau-President Joko Widodo said that aircrafts provided by foreign countries to tackle forest fires would be mostly deployed in South Sumatra since the highest number of hotspots were found in the province.
“Based on the checking results, South Sumatra has the highest number of hotspots,” Jokowi said in a press release issued by the Presidential Communication Team on Friday, October 9.
Jokowi explained that the foreign aircrafts would have capacities to carry 12,000-15,000 liters for waterbombing purpose, which were larger than Indonesia’s with capacities ranging from 500 liters to 4,300 liters.
Jokowi revealed Singapore would be the first country sending aircrafts this week. Jokowi also said that Indonesia was open to any foreign aircrafts to tackle forest fire as soon as possible.
During a work visit in Riau, Jokowi inspected a community health center to ensure that health services in the haze-affected area were well-delivered.
