TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Narcotics Directorate of Metro Jaya Police Department have destroyed narcotics evidence worth of Rp1.2 billion this morning, Oct. 8, comprising 670kg of crystal meth, 637,085 ecstasy pills, 18.5 grams of cannabis, and 2.5kg of ketamine from the smuggling results of an international and national drug syndicate for periods July-September 2015.

Metro Jaya Police Chief Tito Karnavian said the huge amount of drugs destroyed and the high rate of drug abuse is a signal for everyone that drugs are very harmful to the nation.  1,526 suspects dominated by citizens from Malaysia, China, Nigeria, and Taiwan is a warning to Indonesia that international drug syndicate controls drug distribution in this country.

International syndicate targets Jakarta, which has become a potential market.  “Its the primary market in Southeast Asia,” said Tito.  It will have an impact on young generations in the future.

These days, drugs are not just used by wealthy people in discotheques.  Tito expect drug issues can be a concern and that the government will concentrate more on the issue.  It will become our enemy of the state, said Tito.
