TEMPO.CO, Serang- Banten Manpower and Transmigration Agency organizes a job fair between October 7 and 9, 2015 with 46 companies are participating, providing some 10,922 job opportunities to prospecting jobseekers.
That however, is not a source of relief for the Head of the Agency, Hudaya Latuconsina - who is worried over the low acceptance rate among jobseekers.
"This is the second job fair that we have held - and out of the approximately 5,000 applicants, only 20-30 percent have been accepted into the workforce," said Latuconsina on Thursday, October 8.
According to Latuconsina, a large number of employees are not qualified or are not able to provide companies with an adequate proof of competence that is required.
"There is a discrepancy between what the companies are looking for, with the actual capacities of individual jobseekers in the area," he said.
Banten Governor, Rano Karno, have previously instructed Banten residents to make smart use of the opportunities and fairs held by the Administration. "People could get more information about possible job openings at such events - this is a part of our efforts to reduce unemployment across Banten," he said.
Rano also explained that manpower is integral to the development of an economy, as well as the eradication of poverty. "We are moving forwards, and unemployment rates are slowly declining," he said.
