TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - ABB Energy Indonesia has officially invested US$20 million to construct medium voltage switchgear factory in Tangerang, Banten.
“The investment has been executed by building low voltage electricity products in Cibitung,” ABB country managing director Richard Ledgard said in a press release on Thursday, October 08, 2015.
The production facility, owned by the company based in Switzerland, was set up on 3,700 square meters of land to produce medium voltage AIS products, with a capacity of 4,000 panel units per year.
The AIS panel is used to control, protect and isolate electrical equipment in a distribution system. The tool is also used at offshore shipyard facilities, mining transport cargo ships, and floating LNG processing facilities.
The investment was in line with the government plan to develop the 35,000 MW electricity project that consists of 291 power plants, 732 transmission systems with tower sets, 75,000 kilometers of tower sets, and 1,375 main stations. It was predicted that the investment for the project would reach US$72.9 billion.
