TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Within the next ten years, Jakarta should be equal to Singapore in capable of processing clean water from wastewater.
Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama said in the next ten years, Jakarta should resolve wastewater issue. Ten years is enough for two Regional-Owned Enterprise (PAM Jaya and PAL Jaya) to cooperate.
Ahok says Jakarta does not need to perform trials with various types of technology. Enough to imitate Singapore’s latest technology, therefore Jakarta is able to have the same result.
“I do not know how much the budget will be. Is Rp 10 trillion enough? If not, we can increase it to 30 or 40 trillion,” Ahok said at Grand Cempaka on Tuesday, Oct 6.
In Singapore, the utilization of water treatment is divided into three because some of the water are not that clean, and will be used to water plants.
Ahok will not charge installation for wastewater disposal pipelines which is scheduled to be installed by the end of this year. The pipeline installation will use the Local-Budget of Jakarta. Ahok wants the result of wastewater treatment to be optimized.
