Third Economic Policy Package to be Launched Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution said that he would announce the third economic policy package today, October 7, 2015 at the Presidential Palace.
“It’s the third [economic policy] package or October’s [package],” Darmin said on Wednesday, October 7.
In response to a question regarding subsidized fuel price adjustment, Darmin said that he had finalize it but refused to comment further.
Earlier last week, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, summoned his ministers to discuss the third economic policy package. Jokowi asked his ministers to consider the possibility of reducing interest rate by cutting banking operational costs. In addition, Jokowi wanted to increase public’s purchasing power by promoting labor-intensive projects. By involving public in government projects, Jokowi expected that the government would receive more inputs and boost public’s purchasing power.
Furthermore, the government had also considered to restructure small and medium enterprises. Finally, Jokowi also highlighted fuel prices when he asked Pertamina to review the subsidized fuel prices.
On September 2015, government launched the first economic policy package as a response to the declining economic condition. The second economic policy package was issued the on September 29, 2015.
